Lost: Will I ever find my way?

Have you ever been lost while traveling. I Have! Even with this new fangled GPS, we can get lost. Roads change with bypasses etc. My wife and I took a two week trip out west to Yellowstone. It was a great trip except going through Nebraska.(think Mississippi Delta on steroids.) Somewhere along the way we stopped at a Loves truck stop and bought an atlas, just because. As it turned out it was a great help in finding small towns and places of interest and make plans to see them.

Being lost after a loved one’s passing is a whole different lost. There is lost love, lost companionship, lost income, and lost direction to name just a few. It is scary! I get it! I learned that by listening to the stories of those we attended GriefShare with. You need good advice and direction.

Our feelings are twisted all up. We wring our hands not knowing what is ahead. Mathew 6 is full of reasons why we shouldn’t worry. Easier said than done, huh? I have said many times that Psalm is the place to go. David prayed to God, in Psalm 143:8 “remind me each morning of your constant love….”. We need that reminder don’t we?

As a man, being lost is just a “thang”. I will figure it out soon I always say. All the while my wife, sitting next to me is saying “why don’t you pull off and ask someone.” You know I have a little pride here! But all humor, or lack of, aside that is exactly what we should do, pull over and ask God. How do I get from here to there?

You are on a journey, and it is ok to ask for help (direction) from family and friends. But, the ultimate map is God’s word. It tells us over a 100 times to not worry. He’s got this and he is sufficient.
